I have an undergraduate degree in Deaf Education from the University of Alabama.

And my graduate degree is also in Special Education (Mental Retardation/Intellectual Disability), from UAB.

For over 12 years, I taught children with multiple disabilities at the Helen Keller School in Talladega, AL.  My class was a self-contained group of young deaf students with various other disabilities.  It was a wonderful place to work, but now I've almost completed my first school year (2013-14) with my new family at Magnolia School...and I'm loving these kids, their families, and our staff!

My husband, Sam, and I have been married for almost 16 years, and we have a 9-year-old daughter, Taylor.  (Also part of our family are two Labrador retrievers, Joe & Abby, and a cat, Naomi.)  We’re members at First Baptist Church of Fairhope where I help interpret for the Deaf, Sam sometimes plays drums during worship, and Taylor enjoys children’s activities like Bible Drill.  When I have free time I enjoy bike riding, exploring beaches, and looking for geocaches; and at home - reading Christian fiction, Sudoku, and scrapbooking.
